Vasil Terziev: Let everyone respect the truth. Enough of manipulations and general talk - 1

As I promised, today /b.r. yesterday/ we published information about the audited public procurements. We will do whatever it takes to stop illegal orders.

This is what the mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, wrote on his Facebook profile regarding the issue of public procurement, quoted by FOCUS.

According to Terziev, Sofia Municipality is one of the largest public procurement contractors in Bulgaria, and how we do things here in Sofia has a direct impact not only on the capital, but also on the country's economy.

The mayor says that information on all orders is public and any expert, consultant, auditor or lawyer is "welcome to do this analysis that we did".

"Let's get down to business. Weak attempts to discredit companies and their teams for having the courage to undertake such an audit will not change the facts. The fact is that, unlike this audit, another one for Vitosha, commissioned by the previous administration, did not see the light of day until we announced it," he added.

Terziev calls on consulting companies with experience in public procurement, law firms, auditors to give an opinion and sign under it that these procurements are lawful.

"And to Ms. Fandakova, let me repeat: we claim that these orders are illegal with numerous violations of the Law on Public Procurement during their preparation. Whether they are illegal can only be decided by the court.

The responsibility today is mine and my team's to fix them or stop them. Because it is high time that politicians and managers defend our words with real actions. Otherwise, the result for the people of Sofia and for the Bulgarians is zero", the mayor believes.

He claims that it is not true that a few months before the local elections, Mrs. Fandakova prohibited the signing of contracts for large public procurements.

"Let everyone learn to respect the truth. Enough manipulations and general talk", he says and adds: "The facts are that 9 days before the first round of the elections for a new mayor of Sofia last year, a 4-year contract for current repairs for BGN 36,900,000 was signed. On October 27 , or the Friday before the first round of the Sofia mayoral elections, another 4-year contract was signed for BGN 34,749,999.99. From the end of July 2023 until the Friday before the Sofia mayoral elections, new 4-year contracts were signed for ongoing repairs of total value over BGN 240,000,000. These are the facts and they do not need analysis".

"To the critics from GERB, who accused me of entering the election campaign, I want to remind that the person who most strongly wanted the results of this audit since May 3, when it was not completed, but even then it was clearly was a concern, is Mr. Georgi Georgiev. Here it is, a report I received on 3.06, presented the results of it on 4.06. And published today, on 5.06. The audit was commissioned in February. Now it's ready, now we're announcing it. Did anyone think that in June we will have elections again?

And let me ask again: what is your substantive comment? Who will give a detailed justification as to whether these orders are legal and will sign his opinion?" concludes Mayor Vasil Terziev.
