Toncho Kraevski: They want to watch Borisov struggle - 1

We should discuss and propose as many cabinet options as long as we don't have a majority to stand behind him , this talk is just dust in the eyes.

This is what political scientist Toncho Kraevski told FOCUS.

"The main question is whether there will be a majority to stand behind a particular executive, and because such a majority has not yet been built, there is too much talk about its veneer, about form, to mask this lack of substance .“

According to him, Bulgaria has been in a continuous political crisis since 2020, which is the longest in our modern political history. "All the players so far are already convinced that the most important goal is to survive until the end of this crisis, whenever it ends and however it ends. In fact no one wants to rule at the moment as in a normal political situation after an election everyone is trying to make a combination to take power. Right now, it's more like everyone is making decisions through the prism of the fact that the crisis is not over and that there will most likely be another election soon, and everyone is making decisions based on that,” the political scientist is categorical.

The lack of support from the other political forces is the reason why Boyko Borisov proposed a minority cabinet. If it does not materialize, the only way out he sees is through elections. "Borisov makes it clear to the other political forces that they should consider whether they want new elections. And in a new election, there will certainly be an even more fragmented parliament, and without a doubt all the main parties will suffer, with the exception of DPS, which will increase their relative weight,” he explained.

The political scientist added that Borisov may want to take responsibility with such a minority government, but "the rest of the political forces in the parliament would much rather watch him find himself in a stalemate than give him support in order to do it“.

The tactical advantage gained by GERB and DPS from the previous two parliaments – their coming out of isolation and entering into some form of cooperation with the parties of change, is lost by winning first and second place in the last elections, because it seems that the status quo is returning again, Toncho Krajewski also said and added that GERB and DPS are again in the starting position of 4 years ago, i.e. they are once again in confrontations and isolation from other political parties.
