Angel Naydenov: President Rumen Radev's refusal to lead the Bulgarian delegation is a scandal in NATO - 1

What is happening very quickly reaches the other countries of NATO. This is a very disturbing fact, not to say that this is too scandalous a topic. President Rumen Radev's refusal to lead the Bulgarian delegation at the NATO summit in Washington is deeply disturbing. This increases the feeling of a political crisis in the country - of differences in the positions of the main state institutions.

This was pointed out to the BNR by the former Minister of Defense Angel Naydenov and a former MP from the BSP.

According to Angel Naydenov, there are 5 main topics that will be the focus of the discussions at the NATO summit in Washington.

"A central theme is the continuation of military aid and support for Ukraine. Second - the strengthening of deterrents and the defense potential of the Alliance. Third - ensuring that allies fulfill and will continue to fulfill their commitments to invest in their own defense as well as in collective defense, reaching the levels of 2%, and some countries are already proposing an increase to 2.5 and 3%. The fourth topic - the cooperation of the defense industries, increasing the production capacity of the member countries. The fifth topic is the strengthening of the Alliance's global partnerships with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region," the BNR interlocutor explained.

Naydenov indicated that he does not expect a change in the framework position of Bulgaria until the meeting in Washington and does not think that the president will change his position regarding Ukraine.

"In previous parliaments, and in this one as well, there are enough voices that support exactly this position, regarding military aid to Ukraine and other commitments that are expected to be part of the decisions in Washington," said the former minister .
