The National Security Service (NSS) is introducing security measures in the center of Sofia today for the solemn events related to the Patriarchal Electoral Church Council and the enthronement of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch. This was announced by the press center of the NSO, quoted by BTA.
The enthronement with lithium from the Synodal Palace to the Patriarchal Cathedral “St. Alexander Nevsky“ will take place from 3:00 p.m. From 18:00 with a military ceremony at St. Alexander Nevsky“ the newly elected and newly enthroned Bulgarian patriarch will be awarded state honors.
From 12:00 a.m., a security zone will be set up in the perimeter between “Vasil Levski“ Blvd., “Tsar Osvoboditel“ Blvd., “Rakovska“ St. and “Moskovska“ street.
The NSO indicated that citizens' access to the security zone will be ensured after the arrival of the delegates and officials invited for the enthronement and after passing a security check.
The Patriarchal Cathedral “St. Alexander Nevsky“ will not be available to citizens. Those wishing to observe the solemn events can do so at designated positions at the northern and southern entrances of the temple-monument “St. Alexander Nevsky“, where checkpoints will also be organized, the service informed.
The NSO stressed that citizens and guests will be checked with metal detectors for the presence of firearms and cold weapons, sharp objects, explosives and flammable substances, sources of ionizing radiation, fireworks and other pyrotechnic articles. Citizens carrying bulky luggage will not be admitted. Access to persons in a visibly inadequate condition will also be restricted.
For the period from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., a ban on flights of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) is introduced in an area with a radius of 1,000 meters and centered on St. Alexander Nevsky Square.
On June 20 of this year The Holy Synod at its meeting appointed the three candidates - Metropolitan Grigoriy of Vratsa, Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin and Metropolitan Gavriil of Lovchan as Bulgarian Patriarch, from whom the new Bulgarian Patriarch, who is also Metropolitan of Sofia, will be elected today at the Patriarchal Electoral Church Council in Sofia.
The Metropolitan Municipality (SO) informed about the organization of the movement to hold the Patriarchal enthronement, as well as the first Patriarchal Liturgy. It is prohibited to stay and park vehicles, with the exception of the cars of the participants in the events, on “Moskovska” between “11th August“ and G.S.
