Bulgaria's gross external debt in April fell by 2% compared to a year earlier  - 1

The gross external debt of the country at the end of April amounted to 43.140 billion euros (42.6 percent of the estimated GDP), reported by the BNB. This is €891.6 million (2 percent) less than in April 2023 (€44.032 billion, 46.9 percent of GDP).

At the end of April, short-term liabilities were 7.283 billion euros (16.9 percent of gross debt, 7.2 percent of GDP) and decreased by 441 million euros (5.7 percent) on an annual basis (7.723 billion . euro, 17.5 percent of the debt, 8.2 percent of GDP), specified BTA.

Long-term liabilities stood at €35.857 billion (83.1 percent of gross debt, 35.4 percent of GDP), down €450.6 million (1.2 percent) from end-April 2023. (€36.308 billion, 82.5 percent of debt, 38.6 percent of GDP).

Gross external debt of the "Government Government" sector; at the end of April it was 10.430 billion euros (10.3 percent of GDP). Compared to the end of April last year (9.555 billion euros, 10.2 percent of GDP), it increased by 875.5 million euros (9.2 percent).

The external liabilities of the Central Bank are EUR 1.987 billion (2 percent of GDP). They decrease by 1.7 million euros (0.1 percent) compared to the end of April 2023 (1.989 billion euros, 2.1 percent of GDP).

The external liabilities of the sector Other monetary financial institutions (banks and money market funds) are EUR 6.113 billion (6 percent of GDP). They decreased by 351.6 million euros (5.4 percent) on an annual basis (6.4646 billion euros, 6.9 percent of GDP).

External liabilities of Other sectors are 11.863 billion euros (11.7 percent of GDP). They increased by 8.7 million euros (0.1 percent) compared to the same month last year (11.8547 billion euros, 12.6 percent of GDP).

Intra-company lending amounted to 12.745 billion euros (12.6 percent of GDP) at the end of April, which is 1.422 billion euros (10 percent) less than at the end of April 2023 (14.168 billion . euros, 15.1 percent of GDP). It has the most significant share in the external debt structure - 29.5 percent at the end of April compared to 32.2 percent in the same month of 2023, the data show.
