First official word of Patriarch Daniel: I accept the cross of the patriarchal ministry

I believe that the Lord, who looks at the heart and knows that I did not aspire to this position, by choosing me for this ministry, he will also be my helper, because the Lord imposes a burden, but also saves, and because he himself told us that without him we can do nothing, but also that he is with us all the days until the end of the world

First official word of Patriarch Daniel: I accept the cross of the patriarchal ministry - 1

With the consciousness of his unworthiness for this highly responsible ministry, but and with faith and obedience to God's will expressed through the declaration of will of this holy assembly by canonically and legally elected representatives of our entire church, the priesthood, the clergy and the Orthodox people, as well as with the testimony of the beloved and deeply respected representatives of the sister Orthodox churches, I accept the cross of the patriarchal ministry entrusted to me today.

This is what the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil said in his speech during the solemn enthronement in the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky".

"I believe that the Lord, who looks at the heart and knows that I did not aspire to this position, by choosing me for this ministry, he will also be my helper, because the Lord assigns a burden, but also saves and because he himself told us that without him we cannot do anything, but also that he is with us all the days until the end of the world", adds Patriarch Daniel.

In today's time confused by the multiplication of our sins, we all need a living and clear testimony of God's presence, mercy and love for us, added the newly elected patriarch. "This obliges us in our upcoming ministry to be a support in the faith and life according to God of the spiritual flock entrusted to us, to defend the purity of the Christian faith and piety, encouragement on the way to salvation of our spiritual flock,", Patriarch Daniel also said.
