Anelia Marinova: Flights are delayed because of thunderstorms - 1

The flight delays generated in recent days are due to thunderstorms. This is what he said in the show “This Saturday” the chief director of the “Civil Aviation Administration” to the Ministry of Transport Anelia Marinova.

"Unfortunately, flight delays are becoming more common. Organization of air transport is a complex and complex activity. There are many factors involved and everything has to be in sync. "When any component is disrupted, it causes a domino effect and disrupts the whole process," she explained.

Anelia Marinova pointed out that there is a shortage not only of personnel, but also of aircraft, because a large part of them are grounded for routine repairs and technical inspections.

„The industry has not yet overcome the consequences of the pandemic. Many people looked for other areas of development because they were out of work for two years, and these specialists are difficult to form – it takes time to train them“, she added.

Anelia Marinova also showed a map of Europe with thunderstorms in recent days, explaining that these are areas that should be avoided by pilots. “Thunderstorm activity is not safe for aviation,”, she explained.

According to her, 75% of all flight delays generated within Europe on June 27 were due to thunderstorm activity and extreme weather conditions.

She also indicated that since the beginning of the year, the administration she manages has received about 450 complaints, but specified that passengers first file a complaint with the carrier.

„Complaints are submitted to us only after a person has not received an adequate response from the air carrier or this response is late”, explained Anelia Marinova.

„Last year we had more complaints compared to this year, which means that the airlines themselves are now taking better care of their passengers,”, she added.

Anelia Marinova indicated in which cases passengers are entitled to some kind of compensation and gave advice on how to travel without problems.
