Valeriya Veleva: It remains inexplicable to me why exactly today Mr. Dogan split the parliamentary group - 1

Journalist Valeriya Veleva put the entire political class under a common denominator and summarized: this party system is heading towards its collapse at a rapid pace.

On the air of BNT, she criticized politicians for their complete lack of leadership.

“New elections are the least that can happen to us - they will not bring anything new. We need a new round table and reformatting of politics in Bulgaria. The electoral system must be changed”, Veleva is convinced, quoted by novini.bg.

In her words, this is a very complicated process. “The thing is, there is no one to do it. These party “leaders” we have seen today are incapable of doing anything. We saw an ugly theater - political packs, each of which takes care of a very narrow circle around its leader,” commented the journalist.
“Borisov failed and will not succeed if he continues like this. He managed to win elections, but he has not been able to form a government since 2020”, she also said.

For her, the news of the day is the spectacular split in the DPS.

“This also portends serious instability. The stability of the DPS is part of the country's national security in view of the significance of the DPS as a party on the Bulgarian political scene. I was surprised by the way it happened - that Peevski and Ahmed Dogan publicly challenged their leadership. In doing so, they blew up the party from within. It remained inexplicable to me why exactly today Mr. Dogan split the parliamentary group. We are used to, as he is an extremely serious politician, expressing his positions, if not in person, through letters”, commented the journalist.
Peevski cannot end the Dogan era. “No one can. He is an absolute pillar, no one can displace him from his place,” Veleva is categorical.

Political scientist Lyubomir Stefanov defined what was happening as a “political catastrophe”. “There are made-up arguments about who is more guilty and why he is more guilty. The people in the parliament are not politicians and we should stop calling them that”, he commented.
