Associate Professor Nikolay Dimitrov: It is reasonable for most of the ministers from the current cabinet to stay - 1

Gorica Grancharova-Kozhareva is perhaps the least evil that the president could choose from within the short list at his disposal. This is what Prof. Nikolay Dimitrov, a social psychologist, told "Focus“.

In his words, after the withdrawal of Dimitar Glavchev's candidacy, Gorica Grancharova remained the only name that the president could stop at. "She is less identifiable with any political force, unlike the deputy governors of the Bulgarian National Bank”, pointed out Prof. Dimitrov.

According to him, the reasonable approach when forming a cabinet from Gorica Grancharova would be for her to keep most of the ministers from the current official cabinet. "This would also be the easiest option in such a short period of time. If we realize that the president gave her practically only one week, there is no way she can form a government from scratch, even an official one, because many people will not be willing to risk both peace and reputation just to include in an official government”, Assoc. Prof. Dimitrov explained.

A significant number of ministers have already expressed their willingness to remain in their posts and in the "Grancharova" cabinet, he noted. Ministers of service must ensure a smooth transition of work from one cabinet to another. "The focus would be to see what the three key appointments would be – of the interior, of the foreign minister and of the defense minister, Nikolay Dimitrov pointed out.

He noted that the name of the current Minister of Internal Affairs, Kalin Stoyanov, has become a bone of contention from the very beginning. "Some political circles are persistently trying to throw him out of the race, and at the same time we are seeing protests from the police establishment, which approves of the things he is doing for the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It remains to be seen whether the political opposition will prevail, or the professional opinion of the class in the Ministry of the Interior. But if we have to be honest, the Ministry of the Interior and the Minister of the Interior are not that key to the outcome of the parliamentary elections. The bought vote, the corporate vote, are decided very far from the places that the Ministry of the Interior should guard and monitor the fairness of the elections, they are not decided in the sectional commissions,” commented Prof. Dimitrov.

Extremely important at this moment, according to him, is the post of foreign minister. "He is charged with ensuring the process of organizing elections abroad. Our partners in the European Union and in NATO are tired of not having a full-fledged foreign minister with whom they can talk at the international level. We need to look for a foreign minister who can participate in foreign policy processes,” stressed Nikolay Dimitrov.
