The people of the Svishtovo village of Hadjidimitrovo, where an indefinite state of emergency has been introduced, because the aridity, are coming out again today and tomorrow for four-hour protests with road blockades.

The protest is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “The protest is against the indifference and carelessness of all institutions that completely ignore the problem of waterlessness”, say its organizers.

Nearly 20 tons of bottled drinking water from the State Reserve has already been delivered to Hadjidimitrovo, and distribution of 39.5 liters per person has begun. The water supply company has started partial repairs by replacing the stopcocks and cleaning the drains of the local water source. About 200 meters of the new water supply pipe for the village remain to be completed. A drastic water regime has been introduced, but the water does not reach people's taps.

In the Veliko Tarnovo region, 23 villages are in serious water condition. They are supplied with water from local water sources which have almost dried up. There is also a problem with the outdated and constantly failing water supply network.

In the village of Strelets, Gorna Oryahovitsa municipality, where an indefinite state of emergency has also been declared due to the lack of water, a few days ago residents threatened to boycott the elections on October 20 if the problem is not resolved.

Problems are also deepening in another distressed village in Svishtovo - Ovcha Mogila.

In Pavlikeni municipality, 10 villages are on a drastic water regime.
