Tasko Ermenkov: There are corruption schemes in PAVETS Chaira and Chiren

There is also a financial problem - it is about 30-40% cheaper to do vertical drilling

In PAVETS "Chaira" what happened in "Chiren" is happening. One repair, instead of being done by the company that built this PAVET, was done by a company that most likely agreed to share some of its revenue with those who awarded the contract - talk about corruption schemes. Worse, the inspection was subcontracted to the same company. Things are truly catastrophic. Many billions will be needed to restore the energy facility. Energy expert Tasko Ermenkov commented this in the program "The Day ON AIR".

He explained that the cracks in the underground gas storage "Chiren" are vertical or nearly vertical. According to him, if vertical drilling is done, there is no guarantee that a crack will be found. If it is done obliquely - the chance of passing by a crack is greater.

"There is also a financial problem - it is about 30-40% cheaper to make vertical wells. The budget was formed on the basis of obliquely directed - about BGN 200 million. The second financial problem is that the materials that are planned to be filled in the initial specifications are the same, and in the second the steel that must be used for strengthening , is another - with a greater possibility of corrosion, which can lead to man-made disaster, but it is cheaper. There is a difference of about BGN 80 million. Here it is like the scheme of highways - you put less asphalt and it starts to crumble. The diameter of the well has also been changed - we will try to empty the barrel with a straw", explained Ermenkov to Bulgaria ON AIR.

"It is important to expand "Chiren" because "Chiren" is the buffer storage for gas when there are global crises," Ermenkov pointed out.

When asked, will "Botash" and "Bulgargaz", the energy expert replied that he was not convinced that this would happen because the price we would pay would be a problem.

"We have BGN 15 million in invoices without using gas. It's hundreds of millions. If we continue to create problems in state-owned companies - private companies win. Equality between public and private is not respected. All obligations and all problems are in the state sector, and all profits are in the private sector," said Ermenkov.
