Yevgeny Todorov: Pressured by a smarter people, politicians will make smarter decisions - 1

"The Act of Unification is not the great lesson. It is real, it is a military coup, there are no people's revolutions. But he is accepted by the people unanimously, with great joy, by the different ethnic groups, by the different social groups, politicians."

This is what journalist Yevgeny Todorov said in an interview with BNR.

The slogan "Union makes strength" is exploited by politicians, and in fact such type of unity is not democracy. "Connection makes strength" is totalitarianism, authoritarianism. It is convenient for all rulers at different times. This is some mythologizing, he expressed his opinion.

The journalist distinguished the unification around important priorities for the country from the constant search for unity.

"Let us get smarter and then the politicians, pressured by the smarter people, will make smarter decisions,", urged Todorov, who expects that after the elections on October 27, we will have "an acceptable government and a little political calm." ;.

The washing of the monument is a PR action of a municipal company, it has nothing to do with the history of the city. This is fictional, no news, but it is a flower and it smells – this year on lavender, last year - on lilac, the year before - on rose, Yevgeny Todorov also pointed out.

He explained about the creation of the present monument of the Unification in Plovdiv:

"On the occasion of the 100th anniversary, the idea of a monument was born. Without competition, as there is no time, it is awarded directly to Velichko Minekov. (…) This monument actually destroyed one of the oldest European markets – described by travelers, drawn by Mrkvichka. They demolished it to put up a monument. It turned out that there was great debate in architectural circles, which was all too rare in those times, as the party said – we want a monument here", the journalist said.

Todorov also recalled the years in which the celebration of the Unification was a "disguised event", as there were "anti-Russian elements".
