Vanya Nusheva: The CEC made a strange and inexplicable decision - 1

The expert on electoral systems Vanya Nusheva commented on the CEC's decision on the DPS to NOVA NEWS, quoted by FOCUS.

"In the circumstances that have arisen, in which we do not have registration in order, we are witnessing a situation in which the CEC, at least at the beginning of the registration of the parties, made a strange and inexplicable decision. Obviously, it was dictated by the tension in front of the commission," Nusheva said.

"There is an option where the CEC could not form a majority of 2/3 in order to make a clear decision, which in practice is still a refusal to register. We are witnessing action by the Commission which clearly indicates a desire not to intervene in the intra-party dispute as an arbitrator. And it uses that provision in the code where it can give instructions to parties and coalitions that have submitted registration documents to eliminate problems and inconsistencies," she explained.

In her words, it is hypothetically possible to submit an application only on behalf of a party. "But here the question arises whether the CEC would rule on such an application, provided that a case involving this party remains unresolved in the Supreme Administrative Court. It is more likely that the CEC will wait to see what the court's decision is in order to comply with it," Nusheva claims.
