On September 2, 2024, the President of Kazakhstan Kassam-Jomart Tokaev made an address to the people of Kazakhstan. The document defines the priorities in political and socio-economic development in 9 key sectors.
This was pointed out to FAKTI by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Sofia, Viktor Temirbaev.
He pointed out that Kassam-Jomart Tokaev's message - “Just Kazakhstan: law and order, economic growth, public optimism“ clearly defines the main tasks before the parliament and the government for the coming months.
Naturally, the main news was the referendum scheduled for October 6 in Kazakhstan
for the development and construction of nuclear power plants.
The government has already looked at technology from leading companies in the sector from South Korea to France. Six of the leading technologies are explored in detail. World practice has shown that it is best to use a consortium of leading companies when building a new nuclear power plant, Viktor Temirbaev summarized. He repeated that, first of all, the results of the referendum should be awaited.
In recent years, President Kassam-Jomart Tokaev has clearly shown that he is guided by the rule of law and compliance with the letter of the law, Victor Temirbaev recalled. The development of civil society is also among the main tasks. From 2025, all mayors in Kazakhstan will be elected in direct elections, the ambassador pointed out.
Bulgaria is a strategic partner for Kazakhstan in the region of Southeast Europe. In the coming months, the visit of a number of delegations from Kazakhstan to Sofia is also being prepared.
The President of Kazakhstan showed that he also supports the development of the economy and business. Over 120 prohibitive laws, regulations and ordinances have been lifted in recent months. The goal is for the middle class to be 15% by 2029 against the current 7%.
A reform of the tax administration is envisaged in the spirit of best practices from the world's leading economies. The development of transport infrastructure is an imperative task for the government. Kazakhstan and Bulgaria are similar. We are a transport and logistics center for Central Asia, and you for South-Eastern Europe, commented Victor Temirbaev.
At the same time, an active policy is being pursued to reduce the indebtedness of families by raising salaries and pensions.
Oil and natural gas production remains one of the strategic branches of Kazakhstan's economy,
Ambassador Temirbaev pointed out. The goal is to reach an output of up to 1 billion cubic meters per year. For this purpose, 17 new projects are being developed. Investments in modernization of old and construction of new gas and oil pipelines are planned.
Agriculture will also continue to benefit from state support. This year has shown that drought will be a major problem. For this reason, Kazakhstan will emphasize the search for new sources of water, but also the construction of new reservoirs. Investments are also planned in the water transmission network.
Environmental protection is also among the tasks set by President Tokaev, Viktor Temirbaev noted. Forests occupy only 5% of the territory of Kazakhstan, and their increase aims to reduce the adverse effects of drought.
Public-private partnership remains among Kazakhstan's priorities. Along these lines, one of the most modern and innovative schools opened in the capital Astana. Business understands that it is not enough to invest money only in economic projects, but local communities and social initiatives in the region must be supported. This is the only way to guarantee the sustainable development of companies. For its part, the state is committed to attracting foreign investment. The government also aims to create 215 innovative schools to prepare students for the professions of the future.
From next year, a unified healthcare system will be operational in Kazakhstan, so that citizens can count on receiving the best healthcare services.
