The National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party has elected some of its leaders for the upcoming elections  - 1

At its meeting today, the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party approved 21 of the leaders of lists of candidates for members of parliament for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The selection was made after a dialogue held locally and reflects the wishes of the party structures.

The remaining leaders and lists are to be elected at the next meeting of the BSP National Assembly on March 7.

Earlier today, at the proposal of the party chairman Krum Zarkov, the BSP elected a new composition of the Executive Bureau.

The deputy chairmen will be:

Atanas Todorov Merdzhanov – 62 years old. Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2017. Former regional chairman of BSP-Yambol. He graduated in sociology from the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

Donka Ivanova Mihaylova – 66 years old. Fourth term mayor of Troyan (since 2011). Member of Parliament from 2005 to 2009. Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMB). Chairman of the Council on Local Self-Government of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. She graduated in “Finance and Credit” from the “Dimitar Apostolov Tsenov” Academy of Economics in Svishtov.

Zhelyo Ivanov Boychev – 51 years old. Master of Economics at the University of National and World Economy. Municipal Councilor in the Municipal Assembly from 2003 to 2013. Member of Parliament from 2013 to 2021. Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of “BSP for Bulgaria” from 2017 to 2021. Former member of the Executive Committee of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party.

Ivan Yanchov Takov – 45 years old. Municipal councilor in Sofia from 2011 to present (fourth term). Chairman of the Standing Committee on Transport and Road Safety in the Sofia Municipal Council. Chairman of the group of „BSP FOR BULGARIA” in the Sofia Municipal Council. Chairman of the General Council of the BSP-Sofia from 2022. Deputy Chairman of the General Council of the BSP from 2020 to 2022. He graduated in „Finance” from McGill University in Montreal (Canada).

The following were elected as members:

Atanas Dimitrov Telcharov – 39 years old. Master in „European Agriculture and Rural Areas” from the Agrarian University – Plovdiv and in „regional security” from the Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski”. Chairman of the Municipal Council of Sadovo since 2015. Deputy Chairman of the National Association of Chairpersons of Municipal Councils in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAPOSRB). Member of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2016. Chairman of the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Plovdiv since 2025.

Valeri Mirchev Zhablyanov – 60 years old. Doctor of Political Science from the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Former lecturer in Political Science at the same higher education institution. Member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 1998. Member of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party from 2012 to 2020 and from 2025. Member of Parliament from 2013 to 2021. Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly from 2017 to 2018.

Vladimir Petrov Alexandrov – 48 years old. Master in “Open Pit Mining” and ”Corporate Management”. He graduated from the first class of the Political Academy at the NPI “Dimitar Blagoev” and the Institute of Politics “Paisiy Hilendarski” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for political leaders. He was Deputy Director at “Elatsite-Med” AD. Mayor of Etropole since 2023.

Gabriel Georgiev Valkov – 29 years old. He graduated in “Politics and Society” from the NBU. Master in “Energy Markets and Services” from the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He was an expert at the Committee on Children, Youth and Sports of the Bulgarian Socialist Party for 4 years and an expert at the Committee on Defense of the National Assembly. Member of Parliament in the 51st National Assembly and Chairman of the Committee on Youth and Sports. Member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2015. Former Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Sofia and International Secretary of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. Chairman of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2022. Member of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2022.

Enyo Enev Savov – 37 years old. He graduated from the National University of Bulgaria. Doctor of International Law and International Relations at the South-West University “Neofit Rilski”. His work experience includes: work in a notary office, an international company, an expert at a committee in the National Assembly, an associate at the office of an MEP, head of international activities at “LB Bulgarikum”. Currently a lecturer at the South-West University "Neofit Rilski". Municipal councilor in the Municipal Council since 2023. Former chairman of the BSP-Pancharevo Municipal Council. Chairman of the BSP-Pancharevo Regional Council. Member of the BSP National Assembly since 2020.

Yordan Stoyanov Mladenov – 46 years old. Graduated in agricultural engineering at the Agrarian University – Plovdiv and “Business Administration” at the Technical University of Gabrovo. From 2003 to 2013, he was the Chairman of the Board of the Business Center – Peshtera, dealing with the development and application of European projects. Former regional chairman of the BSP-Pazardzhik and former member of parliament. Second term mayor of Peshtera. Chairman of the Standing Committee on European Funds, Mechanisms and Instruments at the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMB).

Mina Antonova Kuteva – 29 years old. Graduated in “Public Relations” at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Former chairman of the BSP-Serdika. Member of the Bureau of the General Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Sofia with the department of "social networks and media". Member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2014 and member of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2025. Has a private business in the field of PR.

Pavel Enev Ralichkov – 44 years old. Master's degree in "Computer Systems and Technologies" at the Technical University-Varna. Specialist in aviation logistics. Member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2005. Member of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2020. Chairman of the City Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Varna since 2022. Chairman of the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Varna since 2025. Municipal councilor in Varna since 2023.

Petko Emilov Dimitrov – 33 years old. Graduated in accounting at the University of National and World Economy. Owner and manager of one of the fastest growing companies in the field of financial consulting. Has many years of experience in the field of banking and finance. Member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party for 15 years. Chairman of the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Serdika. Member of the Executive Board of the General Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Sofia for 7 years. Municipal councilor in the period 2019-2023. Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Sofia from 2018 to 2020 and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Sofia from 2018 to 2022.

Plamen Vladimirov Vladimirov – 38 years old. Graduated from the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2010. Member of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 2020. Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party-Ilinden. He is a member of the Committee on Ideological and Program Development of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and of the Council on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. Head of the Department of "Organizational Activities, Elections and Campaigns" of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. He held the position of Head of the Department of "Elections" of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and an expert in the same unit. In the period 2021-2025, he was a "chief expert associate" to committees in the National Assembly.

Sergey Dmitrievich Stanishev - 59 years old. He graduated from the Faculty of History of Moscow State University. He defended his dissertation for the degree of "Candidate of Sciences" at the same higher educational institution. He specialized in political science at the Moscow School of Political Studies and International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was engaged in journalistic activities. Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party from 2001 to 2014. Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria from 2005 to 2009. Member of Parliament from 2001 to 2005 and from 2009 to 2014. Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019. Chairman of the PES from 2011 to 2022.

Svetlana Stefanova Sharenkova – 64 years old. She graduated in “Social Psychology” from Moscow State University. Doctor of Political Science and Professor Honoris Causa at UniBIT. She teaches “Geopolitics and Civilization Models” at the Leadership Institute at UniBIT. She worked as a research associate at the Institute of Sociology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Youth and Sports, Executive Director of the Fund “13 Centuries Bulgaria“. Since 1997, she has been a publisher of print and electronic publications: ZEMYA newspaper, Russia Today newspaper, China Today newspaper, etc., as well as political literature by Bulgarian and Russian authors. She is the author of scientific works and journalistic materials. She is the Chairman of the Forum “Bulgaria-Russia”. She has been a member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party since 1987, and since 2012 she has been a member of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. She has been the Chairman of the Council on Culture and Media for two terms and a member of the Council on Foreign Policy of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. She is a delegate to the last 3 congresses of the party.

Sonya Teneva Kelevedzhieva – 65 years old. She graduated from “Bulgarian Philology” at the University of Sofia “Paisiy Hilendarski”. Lecturer in Bulgarian language and literature. Lecturer at the Technical University of Sofia-Sliven. Member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria. Member of the Union of Bulgarian Writers. Author of 16 books. Winner of prestigious international awards in the field of literature and art. Chairman of the non-governmental organization “Democratic Union of Women”. Municipal councilor in Sliven for 4 terms. Former Chairman of the Municipal Council - Sliven. Chairman of the Regional Council of the BSP-Sliven.

Trifon Ruenov Panchev – 37 years old. He graduated in law from the University of Sofia “St. Kliment Ohridski”. From 2007 to 2019 he developed a business related to agriculture. Attorney at the Sofia Bar Association since 2014 and partner in a law firm. Since 2016, he has been a member of the European Athletics Court at the European Athletics Federation, headquartered in Switzerland. Mayor of Dryanovo since 2019. Former member of the Executive Board of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party
