We are ready to present a draft budget for next year within the required period. This was stated by acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev to journalists after opening the reconstructed border control checkpoint (BCP) “Kalotina”, BTA reports. Glavchev added that the team of the Ministry of Finance is ready, but the project will not be presented before the parliamentary elections.

We will not introduce it before the election. If he presents himself before then, the temptations in the National Assembly will be very great, the prime minister pointed out.

When asked by journalists what parameters the state budget will have for next year, Glavchev answered: “When it is presented, you will all understand”.

Asked if it will include a deficit below 3%, the Prime Minister commented: “It should be, isn't our goal the Eurozone. We are ready to present such an option. This is also the job of the people's representatives – will they accept such an option”.

In his words, the level of prices in Bulgaria is starting to enter the criteria for the Eurozone.

The acting Prime Minister also commented on how the preparations for the elections are going. „Great. It helps us that we have experience from the previous time. At the time, no one said there was a problem with the election. These will be a little more complicated, given the relationships in some parties. Nevertheless, we have taken measures to ensure that they proceed in a normal manner, within the framework of the Election Code,”, noted Glavchev.

„Yesterday we also solved the problem with the warehouse for the voting machines. It's not very good for landlords to set conditions at the last minute like that, but we do. We are doing everything to ensure that the elections are fair, free and transparent," he also announced.
