Scientists Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James Robinson will receive the Sveriges Riksbank Prize for Economic Sciences in memory of Alfred Nobel (1833-1896) for their research into the causes of differences in the wealth of nations. This was announced by the Nobel Committee.
The scientists were known for “studying how institutions are formed and how they affect welfare”, the decision's reasoning said.
