A new dispute in the Sofia municipality between GERB-SDS and the mayor Vasil Terziev. At a briefing on Wednesday, municipal councilors from the GERB-SDS group raised the alarm about a number of problems, such as the lack of contracts for road markings in the capital, expensive anti-parking pegs and safety railings. At the request of the group, an extraordinary session will be held on Thursday, where the mayor Vasil Terziev will be heard about the traffic problems in the capital.
„The contracts for road markings expired in the summer, but there is still no new procedure under the Law on Public Procurement,” said the third on the list of GERB-SDS in 25 MIR Georgi Georgiev. At the same time, according to him, there is an in-house contract concluded for direct procurement, by virtue of which the price of marking paint and safety elements have increased significantly.
„Sofia is now the city of “golden pegs and railings” - under this contract, they are already three times more expensive," Georgi Georgiev announced, specifying that he was referring to official data on the municipality's website. According to him, before the administration of the current mayor, one anti-parking peg cost BGN 18.68, and now - BGN 51.34, and the municipality installs about 4,000 of these pegs annually. The safety railing was BGN 82.60 and is now BGN 182.28.
„The contract at these prices leads to a loss of over half a million BGN per year. We will refer the State Financial Inspection Agency and the "Economic Police", emphasized the municipal councilor from GERB-SDS Miroslav Borsosh.
In his post on Facebook, Mayor Terziev announced that the claims about inflated prices for the markings are false and “without a gram of knowledge on the subject”.
Later in his statement, Terziev said that once again there is a stubbornness to invent problems and divert public attention from the big ones. “Golden city, golden stakes, golden fences, what else could it be”, he said regarding the accusations made by GERB-SDS.
„There are many other problems waiting for us to solve, but colleagues are still dealing with their invented topics. That's why I laugh, every day is the same. I can no longer fact check all the things that pour into the public space. To explain to each other every day about mistakes that made them and their creators. And then they say: “Terziev, the administration and the municipal councilors, what are they doing and why haven't they solved them?“, added the mayor of Sofia.
According to the municipal councilor from PP-DB-SS Boris Bonev, what was presented by GERB-SDS is false. “Compared contract numbers from 2019 to modern times. You all know that in these five years inflation and the prices of materials and labor have risen significantly. But the more interesting thing is that this is an offer given by the municipal enterprise “Sofinvest”, whose previous and current management were selected and appointed by GERB-SDS“, he says.
“Agreement with “Sofinvest“ it should have been concluded much earlier, not at the end of the summer. But I remember well that the previous day the management had changed. You can only imagine what plans and thoughts our opponents have, said the Deputy Mayor for Transport and Urban Mobility. Ilian Pavlov. He specified that work is being done on the creation of a company under the municipality, which will fully take care of the markings in the city.
