The director of NASA Bill Nelson is visiting Bulgaria. This was announced in the show "On Focus" on Nova TV Gergana Passi, former minister for European affairs.
„The visit is the first of its kind. Tomorrow, together with the American Embassy, the Atlantic Club is organizing a lecture by Bill Nelson at SU. The places in the aula were filled in no time”, said Gergana Passi.
She also comments on the geopolitical situation in the world, as well as the admission of new members to the EU.
When Bulgaria fought for its membership in the Union and NATO, the situation was different than now, Passi explained. For the current candidates, their desire collides with the more difficult and aggravated geopolitical environment at the moment, as well as with the adaptation process of the EU itself, she further explained.
She gave an example with Moldova.
„Today in Moldova there is a referendum on EU and NATO membership, along with presidential elections. All we've seen in recent weeks has been a very aggressive Russian-inspired disinformation campaign. Tranches of more than $100,000 each were traced to the bank accounts of certain individuals. The stake is high,”, commented Passi.
„These countries continue to see joining the EU as a way to reform themselves, but the environment is now much more difficult. In both Moldova and Georgia we can trace the same synopsis of the propaganda machine. Especially in Georgia, we first see that there are some political forces, to a very large extent inspired by Russia,”, commented Passi.
