5G projects for pediatric healthcare and automated mobility begin with European funding. They are 4 in total, and the Bulgarian participants will be financed by the Connecting Europe Facility with a total of 12 million euros, the Ministry of Transport and Communications reports. The agency is the national coordinator of the digital sector of the Mechanism.
The projects envisage the construction of 5G infrastructure in 34 remote places in the Burgas region, where there are no pediatricians. A connection will be made with the coordination and consultation center for telemedicine, which is located in Burgas. In 10 of the settlements, it is expected that there will be stationary centers, in the rest, through specialized 5G ambulances, remote child consultations, periodic child examinations and emergency assistance will be provided.
Future infrastructure will enable high-speed computing, rapid processing and real-time analysis of patient data.
A 5G private and public mobile network will be built at Sofia Airport, which will provide communication, mobility, security and safety services. In critical situations, the private mobile network of the airport "Sofia" will provide sufficient capacity and provide access to Bulgarian public bodies such as the police, fire brigade, emergency medical services, anti-terrorism units, etc.
