"The minimum wage will be BGN 1,077 from next year", said the Acting Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov on bTV.
The Labor Code describes how the minimum wage is calculated, and it is 50% of the average wage. It is the government's duty to implement the regulations as they actually are, Ivanov pointed out.
This is written in the law and the government is obliged to fulfill the law, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy also said.
In the words of Ivaylo Ivanov, the minimum wage is a tool with which the government has the opportunity to influence the increase in income. He emphasized that about 490,000 people in Bulgaria work on the minimum wage.
Minister Ivanov indicated that he is aware of the dispute between the trade union organizations that support the increase and the employers' organizations that are against it. It is much more important that the minimum wage directive must be transposed and Bulgaria must fulfill this obligation by November 15, the minister emphasized.

The National Council for Tripartite Cooperation did not reach an agreement on the minimum wage level for next year at its last meeting.
