Filip Gunev: Outsourced centers for migrants would also benefit Bulgaria - 1

The reason for the decrease in migration this year is due to -already on bilateral agreements, mainly with Libya Tunisia and partly with Turkey. This is what he said in the show "More from the day" on BNT the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Filip Gunev.

In his words, no radical decisions were taken at yesterday's meeting of the European Council.

The European Commission came up with a radical proposal, but the Council's conclusions were like a pat on the shoulder - that innovative ways of dealing with migration should be sought, Gunev said.

In her letter of Monday, Ursula von der LeyenUrsula von der Leyen – German physician and politician (née Albrecht). Ursula Gertrude Albrecht e noted that these decisions followed Italy's example of seeking outsourced refugee centers. She said that solutions will be sought even with countries outside Europe, where they will be "exported" these refugees. The other proposal for these migrant centers is for migrants who are already in Europe and have been refused asylum. The suggestion here is again outsourced centers, ie. the responsibility to be transferred to a third party, commented the former deputy interior minister.

All these proposals are complicated and expensive, it is not very clear whether they will work, so the European Commission recommended to see what the possibilities are and possibly to put them into action in the coming years. This would work in favor of Bulgaria as well. If there are facilities for the return of Afghans to centers in third countries, it would also help our country. But the legal obstacles are very significant and it remains to be seen whether the European Commission will be able to find a solution, Philip Gunev also said.

He pointed out that even if a new wave of refugees starts because of the war in the Middle East, it will hardly be through Turkey and will not significantly affect Bulgaria.
