A driver hit a 3-year-old child on the ring road in Kyustendil. The driver fled without stopping to give first aid to the child and is still being sought. As a result of the impact, the child suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital in Kyustendil, without danger to life, BNT specified.
The 3-year-old boy was at home with his mother. Around 6 p.m., another not-much-older kid called him to ride bikes. In just a few minutes, the two boys cross the guardrail and exit onto the busy Kyustendil ring road.
"My sister was in there just feeding him, at one point, you hear a kid get hit and it's Mario
hit, my sister shouts it's not Mario, Mario is next to me and then I saw that the child is actually not next to her and it happened in a moment," said Simona, the child's aunt.
"I don't know how it happened exactly, it was evening time around 6-7 o'clock, when he went upstairs and they didn't look where the child was," noted the child's grandmother Atanaska Simeonova.
The young family has three children. Relatives claim that the children are constantly taken care of and wonder how the boy was left out of sight.
"We look after our children, we look after our children a lot. Until my sister tells him, no - Mario wait, he ran away, he's gone... they went and the car hit him," says the aunt.
The search for the driver continues. Cameras are being reviewed and witnesses are being interviewed.
