BSP wants to enter governance through the back door. This is behind the scenes, the former chairman of the BSP and former prime minister Sergey Stanishev told BNT.
BSP has been seriously ill for the last 8 years. We used to be one and you have some spirit. This spirit was successively destroyed. Many people in the BSP currently hate each other more than the BSP hates the other parties. The party needs time to heal if there is political awareness, he also commented on the left in our country.
I made a gesture - the situation is critical for the BSP and the future of the left. I am ready to join this campaign, they did not want it. It's not bad. But to say you've reversed the trend now is a huge exaggeration. The truth is, it stopped the fall. It is healthier for the BSP to take care of itself. It should be a constructive party and return to the party ground, and not deal with chasing people with a party ticket, with genders and everything else that we have seen in recent years, Stanishev also said.
And when asked if he will now run for the chairmanship of the BSP, he replied: I will not participate in such type of fake elections as we saw in 2020 for the chairmanship, writing results on the knee, etc.
Our politicians have looked into their own navel and cannot look up from it, we have become insanely provincial. In the US, it happened that they elected Trump. He gave a very strong request for change in many policies. Whether it will happen is an open question, but I see it as an opportunity for Europe. It will inevitably create problems - what policy will be pursued towards the Middle East, whether a trade war will not be created, what will be the policy regarding Ukraine, etc., Stanishev pointed out.
Europe must shake off the complex of following the US. The election of Donald Trump is an opportunity for that, he added.
The EU is losing the economic competition with the US. Mario Draghi has proposed a complex of policies, but the discussion is very active and this means one thing - that Europe is losing and if it does not change fast enough, it is doomed to be left behind. This is an opportunity for Europe to really be more independent and see its progress, he was categorical.
