John Malkovich: Sad and unfortunate. I'm cynical about politics and any ideology - 1

I've seen a lot of rough things in life si, unfortunately, this is what John Malkovich says in response to a question from BTA if after what happened at the premiere of “Guns and the Man“ in the National Theater he lost part of his faith in goodness and in man.

„It's sad, but I think it's a very funny and charming play, with very rich and interesting Bulgarian characters. So that makes me sad. That's unfortunate. I was told back in the summer that this could be a controversial show. Then I said to the theater: “Listen, this year I probably won't be able to do another play because it is too late to choose something and prepare it. But, of course, I will be happy to do it if you want us to continue, and that is the decision of the National Theater, which I respect. And I'm very glad I did. I think if an audience comes and watches, they will have fun. And I don't think there's anything offensive at all," says Malkovich.

The incident does not change my opinion about people, he adds: “I am cynical about political movements, about politics, as well as about ideology. What people use to gain political attention or political power is not something I particularly like. I stay out of politics, anyway. My job is to work in theater and cinema. My job, in this case, is to direct a play, and I loved what we did. Working with the actors here was a pleasure“.

„I'm too old to change. I like people. I rarely meet someone I can't get along with or work with. This has hardly ever happened in my entire life and I am 70 years old. So I'm not one to hate one person, then another, etc. n. No, I find a common language with quite a few people in my life and. I don't find people frustrating, really. "People are just people," he added.
