The Governor of the BNB stated that the main task before the National Assembly is to tighten fiscal discipline. There is a risk that we will enter a debt spiral. There is a danger of a deficit of BGN 18 billion. Laws were passed without the sanction of the Ministry of Finance, many lobbying interests were pushed. Now we need to see how to stop such laws from happening to bring the deficit within 3% and avoid a debt crisis. This is what the former Deputy Prime Minister Lidia Shuleva said in the program “The Live Day” on NOVA NEWS.
She pointed out that the main task of the 51st National Assembly is to form a majority, which must first adopt the budget for the next year.
Shuleva also said that there are a lot of reserves in the budget that can be used.
„Leaving the zero rate on bread is 20 million BGN, which will not be felt”, she explained with regard to the proposals for the annual state budget plan. The former deputy prime minister also indicated that it is not appropriate to raise the insurance contributions.
„The fiscal reserve is not a bottomless pit to cover the deficits, there is nowhere for funds to come into it when there are no surpluses or privatization deals”, the former deputy prime minister further clarified.
