The repeat samples that were taken from sheep from farms with an established outbreak of plague are 100% positive on small ruminants in Velingrad. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture Georgi Takhov during a briefing in the Council of Ministers after the Central Epizootic Council.
He indicated that he would invite the affected owners for a conversation. And he explained that when the animals are destroyed, the affected farmers will receive 100% compensation, according to the current regulation and instructions.
"Farmers will be assisted in cleaning their farms and will receive the amount of the compensation in due time. If it goes, which I do not advise, to another contestation of the results, I have a mandate from the Council and the Prime Minister, that the samples be sent to Montpellier, where the national laboratory is the mother of the entire EU, to make a decision. This is done to clear any doubts. "We are convinced that the animals are sick and we stand behind the actions of the experts," Takhov said.
The Minister of Agriculture said that there is information that samples are being made in a neighboring country.
„ For them, we have no information from which animals they were taken, nor how they were taken,”, he stressed.
