Tafrov: If a regime like Orban's is established in Romania, we will be on the front lines of Russian influence, - 1

Georgia is a European country. “Georgian Dream” is a Russian project. Russia is trying to stop Georgians from going where they belong – in the EU. The people rose up. It is extremely admirable what is happening in Georgia – mass protests across the country. The role of the Georgian president is important, I know her personally. An extraordinary woman, evoking the admiration of the entire civilized world. She's risking her life right now. This was stated by former diplomat Stefan Tafrov on the air of BNT.

„Russia is fighting on several fronts, not only in Georgia. There is a retreat in Syria. The heroism of Ukrainians is obvious. Putin's regime will find it difficult to stop the Georgians on their way to Europe and quell the revolution in Georgia. This is the Georgians' chance, he believes.

Also asked about the recent elections in Moldova and the victory of Maya Sandu, he commented: “The reason is both in geography and in history. We are talking about former Soviet countries. It is the most difficult to disengage from Russia there. The Moldovans succeeded – don't forget that part of the country is occupied by the Russian army.”

„The elections in Romania – this is the result of a massive hybrid attack by Russia. In Romania, as in our country and in other European countries, the rise of these chauvinists, nationalists, anti-Semites is due to the fact that there is a gap between the people who gained from globalization and those who lost. Those who feel cheated look to extremist forces for help. Such a phenomenon in our country is “Revival”. What is happening in Romania is of great importance for Bulgaria. If a regime similar to Orban's in Hungary is established there, it would be bad news for Bulgaria. We would be on the front lines of Russian influence.”

On the situation in our country, he commented: “In all this political turmoil, we are losing what we chose when the Berlin Wall fell, when Bulgaria decided to be a democratic country.”
