"Blue Bulgaria" called on Rumen Radev to officially promise from the parliamentary rostrum that he will not nominate as the future interim prime minister the person elected as the chairman of the National Assembly.

This is what is said in the letter of "Blue Bulgaria":

Dear Mr. President,

For a month now, the National Assembly has been paralyzed by continuous disputes over the election of the Speaker. The excuse of the parliamentary parties is that the elected president can be the next acting prime minister.
It is now clear to everyone that the parliamentary parties do not, and have not, aimed to form a regular government. No one expects that from them anymore. Nevertheless, the many challenges facing the country require a functioning parliament to adopt a budget, exercise active parliamentary scrutiny, and enact vital laws and policies.

We are aware that not electing the speaker of the parliament, because he could be the next acting prime minister, is a convenient alibi for the reluctance of the parliamentarians to make the parliament work. At this point, this excuse for irresponsibility can only be taken down by the institution of the President.

"Blue Bulgaria" It calls on you to make an official address to the National Assembly, in which you categorically state that in the implementation of your powers under Art. 99, para. 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, you will not designate as the future acting Prime Minister the person elected as Speaker of the Parliament, regardless of who he is.

With such an action, you will fulfill your constitutional obligations and provide an opportunity to get out of the parliamentary crisis.

Your refusal to do so will mean stepping out of your constitutional function and debasing the institution of the presidency to the level to which the parliamentary parties have placed themselves – a level where the future of the state is at stake as a function of present and future partisan interests.

Mr. President, regardless of your personal political plans, be at the high level of the institution you represent!
