"There is a pretty good chance for a regular government. The step with the Speaker of the National Assembly showed that some agreement is possible, a consensus can be reached. Although with a lot of evasion, it still happened. They must continue on the path of compromises - GERB-SDF to abandon Borisov's candidacy and look for another figure from the ranks of GERB. There are such figures - people with political and state experience", commented journalist Lyudmil Iliev in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".
According to him, if the first mandate fails, the option of implementing the second mandate, which will go into the hands of the PP-DB, should not be rejected.
"There is no reason why we should necessarily have to go to elections if the first mandate does not work. If the PP-DB do not split, there are still chances of forming a government. Even if a government is formed - how will they achieve the goals - filling the Supreme Judicial Council, the Anti-Corruption Commission. There are changes that will require a very large majority, it must be more open to other political forces, probably to "Vazrazhdane", Iliev also said.
Political scientist Assoc. Prof. Stoycho Stoychev is optimistic about forming a regular government.
"I think that GERB will find resources to compromise on who will be prime minister. In this type of coalition government, the center of political power is in the National Assembly, not in the Council of Ministers. Knowing Borisov's style as a politician, he hardly wants to be the prime minister of a cabinet that can be overthrown by one of the small coalition partners", the political scientist said on Bulgaria ON AIR.
Split in PP-DB
He has no doubt that the coalition partners will stay together.
"Obviously there are differences that it is not clear whether they will be cleared up by the end of this week or next. We do not know what the parliamentary weight of the individual parts of this coalition is. PP you saw that it could not achieve party discipline, there was a conflict with Lorer and Bozhankov, "recalled Stoychev.
Lyudmil Iliev expects that under "appropriate circumstances" there will be a real split in PP-DB.
The political scientist's expectations are for firmer support for a GERB-SDF government and PP-DB to come from the "Alliance for Rights and Freedoms".
"Along with the election of Assoc. Prof. Kiselova, a kind of tension is evident between ITN and BSP. There was a request from Dogan from the first day after the elections to support, without seeking participation, GERB-SDF with PP-DB," Stoychev recalled.
Journalist Lyudmil Iliev pointed out that the main problem facing the majority is related to certain individuals who put themselves in a situation where they become an obstacle to the majority and the government, and all the goals and priorities that are set before them.
The investigation against Kiril Petkov
Ganiela Angelova's interlocutors supported the position that Kiril Petkov's requested immunity may be beneficial for the I.F. Borislav Sarafov in view of the upcoming vote for Prosecutor General in January 2025.
"This is happening more to block this emerging majority than because of a serious intention to investigate Petkov's role in the actions over 2 years ago," said Lyudmil Iliev.
