The Public Finance Law has foreseen what happens if there is no adopted budget, so there is no drama that we will delay a little. This was told to journalists by the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova in connection with the still unadopted state budget.

She participated in the celebrations in Kalofer, dedicated to the 177th anniversary of the birth of Hristo Botev, specified novini.bg.

"On December 31 at 1:28 p.m., a draft law was submitted by which the Council of Ministers requested a change in the rules regarding the extension of the 2024 budget. A budget committee is due to deal with this project on Tuesday, and tax laws and other projects will be further discussed, Kiselova explained.

When asked when this project is due to be voted on, she said that this depends on the Budget and Finance Committee.

She also commented on the topic of VAT on bread, stating that this is a temporary measure and it is a matter of a proposal from the government whether to maintain the measure or return to the general order.

When asked when a budget for 2025 can be expected to be ready, she indicated: "Since the project that the government submitted on December 31 is relatively short, it is possible that it will pass through the National Assembly and be published in the State Gazette within January, since the president is also participating in the legislative process".

Regarding the ongoing negotiations to form a government, she is of the opinion that it there is no commitment to the procedure. "This is currently a commitment of the largest parliamentary group. It is leading the negotiations, so I hope they will be conducted in such a way that the state will not impose itself again in an elective procedure", added Kiselova.
