The Ministry of Culture assured that all exhibits from the exhibition “Ancient Thrace and the Ancient World: Treasures from Bulgaria, Romania and Greece” are safe, despite the fire that broke out in Los Angeles, United States of America.
The Ministry of Culture maintains constant contact with the management of the “J. P. Getty” Museum and the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Los Angeles, from where they confirm that all necessary measures have been taken to protect the exhibits.
"The museum galleries and library archives are isolated from smoke by a state-of-the-art air treatment system,” the Getty Museum reported. Additional protection of the collections is provided by the special construction with double walls of the galleries.
The Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov has sent a letter to the museum management, demanding that the exhibits be moved to a fire-safe location in the building. In his letter, he expresses gratitude for the quick response and the protective measures taken.
The Ministry of Culture and the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are co-organizers of the exhibition. According to the signed contract, all exhibits are insured, and at the moment there is no immediate threat to the building stock and the exhibited artifacts.
