At the 11th hour of the session, the deputies adopted the first reading of the draft laws of the PP-DB, "Vazrazhdane" and ITN in the Judiciary Law. The amendments may lead to the blocking of the election of Borislav Sarafov as Prosecutor General.
"We propose a limit on the time in which one person can perform the function of Prosecutor General, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Cassation and the Supreme Administrative Court. We propose to terminate the current procedures for the election of the Prosecutor General and the President of the Supreme Administrative Court", said Nadezhda Yordanova from PP-DB.
"Our proposal is to limit the ability of the SJC - the body of the plenum to open procedures and produce such a Prosecutor General and the Presidents of the Supreme Courts after the expiration of his mandate", explained Tsveta Rangelova from "Vazrazhdane".
"The second group of proposals is aimed at limiting the powers of the Prosecutor General within the framework of his powers as an independent constitutional body, reducing the number of deputies of the Prosecutor General, as well as their powers", Alexander Rashev - ITN.
"Between the first and second readings, we will make the relevant proposals on a number of texts in all three draft laws. We will not support those texts that are frankly unconstitutional", commented Hamid Hamid from DPS-NN.
"I think this is a correct proposal: the one who is temporarily acting in office should not have the right to be a candidate for Prosecutor General or for the chairman of the relevant court", stated Remzi Osman from DPS-DPS.
"Yesterday in the legal committee we supported all three bills and today in the hall we will support them again, since in each of them there is a proposal that is related to the figure of the Prosecutor General or rather with more guarantees of transparency", commented Maya Dimitrova - BSP-OL.
"I call on you to support all three bills and to suspend Borislav Sarafov for the position of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria", Hristo Rastashki from MECH.
