Radomir Cholakov: It seems that the agreement for governance has been formed - 1

I assume that the negotiations for governance are continuing today, although it seems that the agreement has been formed. This was stated in the program “Wake up” on Nova TV by Radomir Cholakov, a former GERB-SDS MP.

If only GERB-SDS, “BSP-United Left” and ITN remain in the possible agreement, Cholakov said that he hopes that it will be amended.

“In the previous agreement, the wishes of the DB were 100% fulfilled, and the remaining formulations were too general and abstract. Some of the essential demands of the BSP were not taken into account or were formulated abstractly. So, if the coalition or joint government is going to be oriented towards these three parties, it might be good to take into account a little more the demands and political views of the two parties – ITN and BSP”, Cholakov said.

„GERB voters are closer to BSP voters than to those of DB. GERB and BSP understand better what it means to save a country”, Cholakov believes.

However, if a „triple coalition” remains, it will have only 106 votes.

„To elect a government, 121 votes are needed. There will probably be other groups that will support it because they do not want to have elections at the moment. DB may also support it. In government, 121 votes are needed to pass laws. Then it will only have to propose laws around which there is a large consensus”, said Cholakov.

But a cabinet may not pass, he admits.

He also commented on the upcoming meeting of the legal committee in the National Assembly, at which the changes to the Judiciary Law will be discussed. “I would not like to participate in such a meeting or lead it. We have 39-40 diverse proposals. By Monday evening we will have another 40. There may be a meeting from 8-10 o'clock. This will be absurd. It will be another discrediting of parliamentarism and parliament. We will observe how texts are adopted ”on the knee”, they are written at the moment, no one knows what they are voting on and legislative chaos occurs, which is a shame for democracy”, said Cholakov.

”If I were on the Supreme Judicial Council, on Thursday I would vote for the election of Sarafov. The legislative branch cannot intervene in this brutal way on the judiciary. If the judiciary wants to show character, it must elect Sarafov on Thursday”, said Cholakov.

According to him, President Radev will not sign the decree appointing Sarafov as Prosecutor General. “And if he does not issue it, I assume that the acting Prosecutor General, who will be in office at the moment, will send the law to the Constitutional Court. There are serious objections to what is written.

If this madness in parliament that I have observed and a law is being rewritten on the fly, there will certainly be many reasons for him to be sent to the Constitutional Court. Sarafov will either remain acting Prosecutor General or one of his deputies will become acting Prosecutor General, and he will become Deputy Prosecutor General and nothing will change”, commented Cholakov.
