On March 27, 2025, the District Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv filed a protest against a verdict of the District Court - Plovdiv, which imposed a sentence of 8 years of imprisonment on Petar Chernev, 36, for causing bodily harm, coercion and threats to a 6-year-old boy in Plovdiv, as well as for possession of narcotics.

The crimes for which Petar Chernev was convicted were committed in the period from 21.11.2023 to 11.01.2024 in conditions of domestic violence. He lived as a family with the child's mother - Stella Aleksieva, 35. In the protest, the District Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv insists that Petar Chernev be given a higher sentence and that he be convicted on all six charges for which he was brought to court.

The supervising prosecutor has also filed a protest against the verdict of the District Court - Plovdiv, by which the child's mother - Stella Aleksieva was released from criminal liability and sentenced to pay a fine of 4,000 leva. She was found guilty of negligently causing moderate bodily harm to the boy.

The District Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv insists that Stella Aleksieva be convicted on the charge of intentionally causing moderate bodily harm and that she be sentenced to a "deprivation of liberty" with a probationary period.
