Nearly 7.7 billion leva are the expenses for pensions in the first four months of the year and increase by 8.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. This was reported by the National Social Security Institute.
The average monthly amount of arrears in April reached 959 leva, including the paid Easter supplement, and compared to the same month last year, the growth is nearly 100 leva. The number of pensioners for the previous month was 2,052,597, which is an increase of 13,179 compared to a year earlier.
The total funds spent by the National Social Insurance Fund on pensions and benefits are 8 billion and 673 million leva, and the income from insurance contributions is 4 billion and 613 million leva. The deficit is covered by transfers from the budget, of which a little over 4 billion leva are directed to the State Social Insurance Fund.
