Sociologist: Radev made a wrong move with the referendum - 1

I don't think the president's goal is to stop Bulgaria on the road to the eurozone. For me, he rather wanted to show where he is positioned on the political terrain. With this request, he stood somewhere next to Giorgia Meloni.

This was stated in the show "Denyat na Zievo" on NOVA NEWS by sociologist Vasil Tonchev.

"Politicians in Bulgaria are not counting on several important things. With Romania, we always go together for one reason or another. We saw what happened there in the presidential elections there. For me, the same will happen in Bulgaria. I don't understand why the traditional parties were afraid of a referendum, although it is clear that there cannot be a referendum. Bulgaria's path is clear and there is only one - even more complete integration into the European Union, which will happen with our admission to the eurozone. Rumen Radev made a mistake with the referendum move. This move of his will not bring him political dividends and whoever advised him to request a referendum has misled him. The world is currently unstable, and the request for a referendum does not bring stability to Bulgaria, but only additional difficulties", he added.

"Boyko Borisov wants to be active. This is the reason for him to meet with Erdogan and intervene in the transport strike in Sofia. He has always managed to read the mood of the people and take the right moves. It is clear that salaries in public transport must increase, but it is also clear that there must be very serious reforms. For me, the strike had a partisan nuance and was an attempt to pressure the mayor. Vasil Terziev resisted, but for me neither he nor Borisov drew any political dividends from this situation," explained Vasil Tonchev.
