The government has fulfilled one of the commitments made under the management program and, along with this obligation under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan - judicial reform in the field of administrative justice. This was stated by Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev in the Council of Ministers, quoted by Nova TV.
"A draft amendment to the Administrative Procedure Code has been adopted, which reforms administrative justice. In practice, we are introducing digitalization as a practice in the field“, he added.
What does this mean and why is it being done?
„The big problem is slow justice. Through the modern means of communication that we are introducing, and the principle of electronic initiation in essence – correspondence and so on, we will drastically shorten the terms in which administrations make decisions“, Georgiev explained.
The measures that will help with this:
- Strengthening the beginning of electronic summons and service of documents;
- Electronic correspondence is being introduced as a rule, i.e. digitalization is being brought into the process even in the phase in which citizens talk to the administration;
- Broader hypotheses for videoconferencing are being introduced.
