The implementation of all planned activities to increase traffic safety has been completed in 14 of the 36 sections included in the Plan for securing sections with a concentration of road accidents, the RIA reported. This week, the securing of the sections in the districts of Lovech, Blagoevgrad, Shumen and Vidin was completed. In the rest, road surface repair activities, cleaning of facilities and shoulders, replacement of restriction systems, installation of road signs and laying of markings continue.
In Lovech district, all planned activities have been completed in a 100-meter section of road I-4 Bulgarian Spring - Sopot within the village of Sopot. New road signs have been replaced and installed, repair work on the pavement has been carried out, markings have been renewed, red markings have been laid to attract the attention of drivers and flexible limiters have been installed. The separation of the directions of traffic limits the possibility of incorrect overtaking, which is a prerequisite for road accidents.
In Blagoevgrad district, the securing of a section of road I-1 in the Kresna Gorge at 383 km has been completed. In a 100-meter section, road signs have been installed, asphalt concrete pavement and transverse noise markings have been laid, as well as markings with numbers 50 km/h on the roadway.
This week, the activities were completed on both sections with a concentration of road accidents in the territory of the Shumen region. At the roundabout for Panayot Volovo at the 112th km of the I-2 Shumen - Varna road, signs have been installed, the asphalt pavement has been restored and noise markings have been laid. On the I-7 road at the intersection of the Shumen ring road with the municipal road for the “Divdyadovo“ (at 124 km) road signs have been installed and markings have been laid.
Two sections of the I-1 Vidin - Ruzhintsi road in the Vidin region have also been secured. One is approximately 300 meters long, in the area of the village of Skomlya /at 53 km/, and the second is about 200 meters in the area of Dimovo /at 42 km/. The routes have been re-asphalted and have new markings and signs.
In Haskovo region, noisy markings have been installed on a 100-meter section of the I-5 Dimitrovgrad - Haskovo road at 285 km, completing the planned activities for the site, including road surface repair, installation of road signs and laying of horizontal markings. On the other section in the district, which is on road II-76 Knyazhevo – Topolovgrad, the transverse noise marking will be laid next week, which will implement the planned safety measures.
At the end of May, the planned safety measures were implemented in three sections in Varna district, two of which are on road II-29 Varna – Dobrich in the Varna region /at 3rd km/ and near Aksakovo /at 10th km/, and the third on road III-208 - at the bridge over the Golyama Kamchia River near the village of Kamen Dyal. In Ruse district, the planned activities on the section of I-5 Ruse - Byala at the roundabout at Byala /km 51+900/ have been implemented. In Razgrad district, the roundabout on road II-49 Razgrad – Targovishte with road II-51 Chudomir – Loznitsa, in the area of the village of Trapishte. In the territory of the Sliven district on road II-55 Panicharevo – Asenovets, in the area of the Zhrebchevo dam, at the 71st km, all planned activities have been carried out, which include replacing road signs, laying transverse noise markings and restoring road markings. In the Pleven district, work has been completed at the 130th km of road I-3. Signs have been placed indicating a section with a concentration of road accidents, as well as speed limits. Transverse noise markings have also been laid.
A map of the sections with a concentration of road accidents has been published on the website of the Agency “Road Infrastructure“ –www.api.bg. An Action Plan for Securing the Sections has also been published.
The map and plan have been published in the specially created section “High-Risk Road Sections“, so that citizens can quickly and easily familiarize themselves with the available data and track the implementation of measures to secure the sections.
