I doubt that he fled abroad. This was what Nikolay Tsvetkov, lawyer of the prosecutor's son from Pernik Vasil Mihaylov, told BNT after the 21-year-old young man was declared a statewide wanted man.
The son of the former district prosecutor Biser Mihaylov is being sought in connection with a report by a 31-year-old man who claims that he was beaten and threatened by Vasil Mihaylov and his 22-year-old friend in order to sign a document that he owed them a large sum of money. The 31-year-old man called 112 and Vasil Mihaylov's friend has already been detained.
In April this year, Mihaylov received a 4-year sentence for over eight charges of causing moderate bodily harm to various people in Pernik. However, he was released from custody on bail until the sentence came into effect.
"I have no connection with Vasil Mihaylov himself. I made a commitment to defend him at the last moment in the case, which ended in the first instance in the Sofia District Court.
I have no commitments to this case, he did not authorize me. There is a probation sentence against him that has come into effect. In connection with the probation, he is obliged to sign twice a week.
If he does not sign this week, the Probation Service should request a replacement of this measure or some punishment in connection with this", explained Nikolay Tsvetkov - Vasil Mihaylov's lawyer.
He pointed out that among the possible punishments is the replacement of the probation measures with imprisonment.
"But these are just guesses", pointed out lawyer Tsvetkov.
According to him, it is normal for a prosecutor to request a permanent measure of "detention in custody".
"As far as I understand, the victim also had financial obligations to other people who sought him out to return the money,", Vasil Mihaylov's lawyer also said.
In front of BNT neighbors of the prosecutor's son in Pernik shared that they are afraid to comment anything related to Vasil Mihaylov.
