Bozhidar Bozhanov: Radev's positions are a serious problem - 1

„The goal is for the next president to have a clear pro-Western, pro-European profile”. This was stated by Bozhidar Bozhanov, co-chairman of „Yes, Bulgaria”, to NOVA NEWS.

This week, at a round table, the democratic community discussed the possibilities of nominating a single presidential candidate. Bozhanov did not name a name.

„What is happening at the moment with Radev's positions is a serious problem. The big geopolitical line must be clearly directed towards Europe”, said Bozhanov.

He also commented on the upcoming final decision on Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone. „The finance ministers this week were unanimous. If they are unanimous, no I believe that from now on there will be a scenario in which this does not happen,” Bojanov said.

Regarding the referendum requested by the president, Bojanov said: “On the day of his strange announcement, we assumed that it could be a request for a future political project. This is certainly a request to capitalize on all the dissatisfaction that would occur in the process leading up to entering the eurozone and after that, if the government does not manage. Our criticism of the government is not about the general direction – the eurozone, but that wrong steps are being taken in places that risk people remaining dissatisfied with what is happening. The example of prices is just one of many. Rumen Spetsov came out and threw some numbers in the air,” Bojanov commented.

“This week we proposed a bill that would require large chains to publish the prices of the small consumer basket every day. This is a measure used in Croatia. It works, it stimulates competition,” he said. Bojanov.

The proposals for controlling surcharges are an intervention in the market, Bojanov believes.

Regarding the eco-tax, he explained that what “Democratic Bulgaria” is proposing and will submit to the National Assembly is for more competition and the removal of barriers to entry into this market.

He also responded to the photo of Kiril Petkov with Anton Slavchev. “The fact that Peevski comes out and shows this photo means nothing. Kiril Petkov told me about this chance meeting on the sidewalk a few days earlier. But the question is different - the rules for the Anti-Corruption Commission have been approved by the EC and they would approve the second payment under the PVU only if these rules meet their requirements - real competition, a real assessment of the candidates for their qualities. What Peevski and Borisov want is to nominate their candidate,” Bojanov said.

The PP-DB does not have a candidate for The Anti-Corruption Commission, he added.
