“The GERB model must be destroyed. Don't give up, don't surrender, because if we surrender, it means abandoning our families, our lives, the state. Politics has no end, the struggle has no end. The fact that Boyko Borisov has swallowed another surrenderer does not mean that this is the end of the state, the end of politics and the end of the possibilities for Bulgaria to be a normal state“. This was stated by Kaloyan Metodiev, a member of the leadership of “Unruly Bulgaria“ on the air of Bulgarian National Radio - Blagoevgrad.
Regarding Borisov's words from the past few days, Metodiev added: “The levels of policy-making in Bulgaria are already reaching a rather esoteric, strange, dangerous level for me. Here we have intertwined magic, corruption, dependencies of people, compromising materials, records, control over the security services. It is not normal for a political system to function in this way. All this starts from the head of the state, which is currently dizzy with its own power and opportunities that it possesses“.
In his words, the failure of the so-called charismatic formations should not lead to despair, but to determination: “They lied to the people twice – Slavi Trifonov and the PP. They won the elections with anti-corruption platforms and sat in the lap of the mafia, against which they were supposedly fighting. But this is not the end. Do not give up, do not surrender – otherwise we abandon our families, our lives, our country. Politics has no end, the struggle has no end.“
Metodiev described the “Borisov“ model as “morally exhausted, but institutionally strengthened“. In his words, the “Borisov-Peevski“ tandem is at its peak: “They literally ate the state. They bought up everyone who was against them. With one exception - Kornelia Ninova, whom they could not buy or subjugate, unlike the scumbags around her. They work only through fears, addictions, blackmail. Peevski is the architect of the conquest of the state, and Borisov - its face.“
“The current parliament does not perform the functions of a democratic institution: “There is no opposition. The PP is obviously melting away, yesterday after the earthquake their leaders went into hiding, leaving Kiril Petkov alone. No one showed up to give an interview. DB is relieved. Peevski – "...it claims to be the opposition, but in fact it dictates the government," said Metodiev.
„On the other hand, the Bulgarian nationalists are tragic - some will protest in Sofia, others have gone to Brussels. They only watch each other fight, tear their T-shirts, threaten each other in the corridors of the parliament. I see no difference between them and the Vidin bully who goes to fight in the streets. These are your deputies. The Bulgarian nationalists are tragic. If we could say that they are some kind of opposition in this parliament, that would be a lie. They are no opposition at all. The only result of this parliament are the beatings and scandals. This is a schizophrenic power configuration“, commented the political scientist.
Regarding the scandal from last week with the government plane and the evacuation of Bulgarians from Israel, Metodiev sharply criticized the speaker of parliament: “It is a shame and disgrace for the state that this woman is still in this position. Violations, abuses, inaction – and none of the nine parliamentary groups demanded her resignation. It was not the deletion of groups, violation of the constitution, rules of procedure, concealment of corruption, refusal to hear the Plovdiv police officers, hiding immunities. This is proof that the parliament is a twisted ball of dependencies.“
Asked about foreign policy and the situation with the Republic of Macedonia, Metodiev was categorical: “Failure. Macedonia is investing millions in anti-Bulgarian lobbying. Bulgaria – zero. Humiliation. Lack of position, lack of cause. Our government betrayed our national dignity. 214 thousand passports were given to Macedonian citizens. There is not a single plank there for us to step on. Our politicians took pictures with Ljupcho Georgievski for PR, but when we went to lobby in Brussels, it turned out that they were stabbing us in the back, and we, as a 1300-year-old state, with pretensions, have come to the point of being betrayed by our own government, which has shown passivity regarding our history and interests. We are neither Tatars, nor are we inhumans, as they call us. And for me, it is time to show muscle and take a position that we are a state with dignity and a people. This government cannot show this and protect our national dignity, because it was elected through fake elections. It is vulnerable both politically and morally. “
„In Bulgarian politics, honor, dignity, and cause have disappeared. I want to see kindness in politics. I want a fight for something positive.“
