Go to Italy, pay yourself, work for 5 years in a village in Sicily and come back happy here. If you think that everyone in medical circles is waiting for you abroad with open arms, I wish you success. If you don't work here, we will be forced to bring in specialists from other countries who will work for 500 leva happily, as much as the state can afford. This was stated by Toshko Yordanov from "There is such a people" (ITN) of young doctors who have been protesting for weeks for fairer pay.
"I was at the conversation with, what you call young doctors, they are not young doctors, they have no experience, some of them are students. What they are trying to say and have written, I don't know how they imagine that the National Assembly will go to listen to a simple call at a round table about something, given that the conversation with them was a month ago. The main problem they highlighted, about low salaries, is mainly in private hospitals. The proposal from the parliament was to correct this part of the law, to discipline private hospitals to pay at least as much as in public hospitals,", Yordanov also said.
"This was refused. I can bet that after this round table there will be new amendments again. This is a bit like a situation where we want something, but we don't know what we ultimately want and we don't want to solve the problem, if there is one. If you study abroad to become a specialist in something, there is an educational qualification according to what you have achieved as a student. In Bulgaria, every student can be a specialist in whatever they want, regardless of whether they have the necessary capacity or education for it. If you are somewhere there, for example in Italy, from Rome they will send you to Sicily, and you will have a 5-year employment contract, because the educational institution invests in you. You will receive minimal, but you will work there for 5 years," he also said, quoted by 24 hours.
"None of you wants to go to work in the countryside, everyone wants to work in Sofia or in the big cities. In Sandanski, the hospital pays a sufficiently high salary, provides municipal apartments and there are no applicants. You want to graduate, specialize in whatever you want, regardless of whether you have the necessary knowledge," announced the MP from the ITN.
"If we are going to increase salaries in any way, we need a few absolutely general things, for example, I believe that the health insurance fund should be decentralized. Then people who have more money will pay and receive the corresponding service," he added.
We have reached an agreement, which, structured in days, is the following: by July 14, all proposals will be submitted to the Health Committee, and by the 28th, a common bill will be submitted by all parliamentary groups to solve this problem. This was stated by the chairman of the Health Committee in parliament, Kostadin Angelov. He assured that all parliamentary groups were unanimous that a solution must be found to the problem of low pay in the healthcare sector.
Tomorrow, medical students and postgraduates will organize a roundtable in parliament, at which they will present their proposals for changes to the bill to introduce minimum requirements in determining the amount of remuneration for staff in medical institutions. The discussion will also be attended by deputies from the committee, announced Kostadin Angelov.
