The reason - her signal to the prosecutor's office regarding information about a coordinated campaign organized by the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, under the leadership of Patriarch Daniil, to direct young Bulgarian citizens to study at theological institutes in the Russian Federation.

The scale of the reaction, for me, shows the scale of the problem - I have stepped on a Russian mine.
I read the comments that the state has no right to interfere in “church“ affairs. But I do not see the same voices objecting when the Holy Synod issues official statements on secular issues, or against those of its servants who have recently reduced the word of God to the level of rally rhetoric, combined with bagpipes, drums and “patriotic“ shouts.
I do not notice that they are impressed that the leadership of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church constantly agrees with the main line of Gundyaev - the spiritual conductor of Putler's policy. I don't feel like they're asking whether it's normal for the patriarch to remain silent about the children killed in Ukraine or those abducted by Russia.
We politicians don't deal with the affairs of the church, it deals with politics, and that's increasingly obvious.
At the risk of repeating myself - sending young people to train under the supervision of the Kremlin patriarch, who blesses missiles and war crimes, is a risk to Bulgarian national security. In the context of the hybrid war being waged against our country, this action is, in essence, close to sending future DANS employees to an internship in the GRU or one of the Russian foreign intelligence services.
As for the threats - they only convince me that I hit where it hurts the most, Petkova writes on her Facebook profile.
