Not only reforms are needed, but also clear guidelines to support business and society when adopting the euro. This was stated by Lidiya Shuleva, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, in the program “In Focus: The Euro” on Nova Television.
According to Shuleva, it is important to improve business accountability when switching to the single currency.
“The Ministry of Finance has published several reforms that show what will change. Fiscal devices, in terms of accountability. But it would be good to have additional reforms to support business,” said Shuleva.
In her words, after adopting the euro, there should be no people who have become victims of the deficits in the country.
„We are currently expecting an increase in credit rating, which means a reduction in interest rates. On interest payments on all loans in the country. Currently, the CPC is conducting sectoral analyses, but we see that, for example, fees for photovoltaics are being raised. There are different examples in this case, but if we talk about a deficit, pensioners are always victims,” she also said.
„Business fully supports the adoption of the euro. We will not suddenly become poorer or richer, but every person who creates something in Bulgaria, whether it is food, clothing or some other product that they want to distribute around the world, will be made easier and their opportunities will expand, said Dobromir Ivanov from the Bulgarian start-up association "Besko".
According to him, after the adoption of the single currency in our country, there will also be increased control over financial institutions.
