For all this, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov had set a deadline. For the safeguarding of road sections with a concentration of road accidents, it is August 15 and will be fulfilled, the minister told NOVA, quoted by novini.bg.
Ivanov noted that the government has a complex of tasks that it is fulfilling, and the same is true in the regional policy part. Work is being done on all dangerous road sections, repairs are being carried out qualitatively, and deadlines are being met, said the minister, adding that the time for repairs also depends on coordination procedures, and the ultimate goal is to have safe roads.
The Ministry of Interior reported a decrease in the number of victims and accidents compared to the last 2 years. However, Ivanov reported ill-mannered and arrogant behavior of drivers, and some continue to drive in the emergency lane of the highway. Starting next week, this will also be monitored through the toll system.
Ivan Ivanov recalled that the sanction will be 1,000 leva for a first violation and 3 months without a license.
Regarding the road to Greece and the "funnel" in Kresna, the minister said that the efficient solution is the completion of the "Struma" motorway, and according to the roadmap this should happen by 2031. In a more foreseeable period - 2 years - the bypass of Kresna will be completed, and a contractor will be selected by the fall.
Regarding the pedestrian traffic light in the town of Kresna, Ivan Ivanov said that it was installed at the request of the mayor and its main function is to protect the health and lives of the residents of Kresna.
