Radina Asparuhova – another woman in labor, confirmed to Nova TV the story of Antonia Andonova - the mother who reported insults and slapping during childbirth at "Maichin Dom".
“I heard the insults, the entire maternity ward was filled with screams. There were lines like: “another slut who doesn't know how to give birth” and “unqualified”. One of the times I went to the toilet, I saw Antonia and the doctor sitting opposite each other and the doctor told her: “If you don't pull yourself together and give birth, you will cause a lot of trouble for the child and for you. "You've been drooling for so long," the witness explained. And she explained that she had also endured similar treatment.
„This doctor came to see my dilation. She asked me if my water had broken yet. She told me in a strict tone to hold on and not move," added Radina Asparuhova.
In the studio of „Hello, Bulgaria” Antonia described in detail what she experienced in the medical facility.
„I entered the delivery room with a 5-centimeter dilation. I won't even comment on the pain I felt before. Every woman experiences pregnancy and childbirth differently. Mine was simply more painful and I accepted it. There were even reactions from the hospital team about how I was so smiling between contractions, and then I was in a lot of pain. The problem started when I wanted to be anesthetized. I was moved from the delivery room on a self-propelled vehicle. They put me on the couch, I can't call him a donkey. I didn't allow myself to scream or fight in any way. I am an extremely respectful person. At one point, a hand slapped me, I wasn't beaten, but it hit me. I took it as “Shut up and don't explain yourself”. I was told that there was one of the best anesthesiologists in Sofia there and not to comment”, said Antonia. According to her, this was just part of the bad experience in the hospital.
“The whole attitude is disgusting. This is a sacred moment in every woman's life and it is not right for something like this to happen. After I was anesthetized, I also had a system to induce labor. When it happened and I had already reached those 10 cm, there was a period in which I was alone for a long time. The anesthetic stopped working. I started pacing around the room again. I was waiting for the moment to come for the actual birth. It happened extremely abruptly. The same doctor burst into the room and told me to get on the donkey and hold my legs. Something that, believe me, after having contractions for 48 hours, is unbearable. I asked someone to either help me or to come up with another way, because I can't stay in this position. Just then I heard a reprimand in a high tone. She told me that I was a simpleton and that people like me come and don't know how to give birth. I started to wonder if I really came unprepared and I blamed myself”, added the mother. She explained that she didn't want to be given a second anesthetic.
“The anesthesiologist turned and said to the doctor “Let's give her a second one”, but the doctor refused. "Later, when I was sewing, they added a little more," the woman said.
