The political landscape in the country has once again returned to the familiar "East - West", euro - non-euro, especially after May 9 and Radev's announcement of a referendum on the date of the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.
This was said by the director of the "Myara" sociological agency Parvan Simeonov in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the World in Focus" on Radio "Focus".
On one side, various radical anti-system political forces remained, as well as those who did not vote, and on the other side - the government plus the liberal opposition, i.e. GERB, Peevski, who is acceptable because he is for the euro, and PP-DB, who are supposedly in opposition, but on the issue they stood behind Borisov.
According to him, the case with the Varna mayor has shifted the political conversation in our country to the topic of anti-corruption.
"After the Varna case, we returned to the anti-corruption talk that is inconvenient for Borisov, or what we talk about as status quo - change. These are the two main dimensions in which Bulgaria has been living for a long time," he said.
And he continued: "The switch from "status quo - change" is not convenient for Borisov. Slowly, slowly, some attempts are being made to consolidate the different types of opposition.
According to the sociologist, however, the opposition is strongly divided due to geopolitical orientation: "There is no force in the world that can bring together PP-DB and "Vazrazhdane" or PP-DB and Radev. The main thing that happened in 2020 is missing, namely that blue and red stood against GERB and Peevski.".
Parvan Simeonov believes that the unification of the two political opposites cannot happen now. He predicts a consolidation of the current governance model.
"If I had to make a prediction, it is more of a possible stabilization of the current governance model. In addition, they are withdrawing money, they will try to control prices. If they succeed, they will buy political time".
And he continued: "It doesn't seem like anyone seriously has the opportunity and intention to take power in Bulgaria. It is very difficult for people to place their trust in PP-DB or exotic political figures, such as those in the radical camp in parliament. The only thing that can shake Peevski and Borisov is their own exaggeration".
The analyst emphasized that if economic imbalances arise during the winter period, then "blue" and "red" could unite against the government: "The first attempts will be in September with a vote of no confidence. I am not sure whether this political storm can capsize the boat of GERB and DPS, because objective political circumstances speak for a rather stable course".
