„There is no case in which the self-serving increase in sanctions has yielded results. It is difficult to understand how the increase in sanctions was determined. Minimum sentences of 12-13 years are indicated and it is not clear to me how these years were determined. Previously, there was no life imprisonment for road accidents. When these new penalties are thrown into the public space, no one says that in the case of an act committed through negligence and with a first penalty, one goes to the minimum“.
This was said in the program „This Morning“ on bTV by Emanuil Yordanov, a lawyer and former Minister of Interior.
„The scariest thing is when the street enters the parliament. In order to satisfy the interest of a small group of people who are constantly protesting, these meaningless sanctions have been imposed at the moment. Currently, the stick is only on the drivers“, commented Yonko Ivanov, chairman of the Union of Auto and Motorcycle Training Centers.
„With the increase in sanctions, we are running before the wind. We are dealing with the investigation, but we forget about the reasons“, commented Yordanov.
„After all the sanctions, we have only 1 less person dead, doesn't it suggest that these sanctions are not working“, pointed out Yonko Ivanov. According to him, the Ministry of Interior does not provide statistics on how many passengers in the back seats are not wearing seat belts.
„Sanctions for both state officials and institutions, now the stick is only on the drivers“, said Yonko Yonkov.
