Residents of the Troyan villages of Oreshak and Cherni Osam are gathering tonight at 6:00 p.m. at a meeting, to express their dissatisfaction with the possible construction of the "Cherni Osam" dam, one of the organizers, Mincho Koprinski, told BNR.
"The meeting will launch a petition against the construction of the dam, because there are alternatives that are faster, which will solve the problems of Pleven and Lovech faster, and are cheaper. The problem in Pleven is serious, but Pleven has the opportunity to first fix its water transmission network, then start repairing the Cherni Osam – Pleven water pipeline, where the losses are colossal, and then think about building a dam. Pleven has the opportunity to take water from the so-called Danube system, which is 30 km away, not 100 km. And to solve its problem within a year, not 20. We insist that their problems be taken seriously by the government and solved as quickly as possible“, said Mincho Koprinski.
